Hiya, My 2 albino retics were hatched around may and only in the past 2 or 3 weeks they have both developed a hole like indentation behind their right (i think) eye stalk. Now I am presuming this may be linked to sexual maturity Could someone please confirm if this is correct and if so might i see any eggs any time soon (approx how soon) ?? they both have exactly the same indentation and i've not seen any projections etc out of it. I kind of fancy keeping 1 or 2 eggs but would appropriately get rid of the rest.

Hiya, that does sound like they're starting to show sexual maturity. However, much like humans, they're not immediately able to control them and they take a while to work out what to do with them They often show their pore some time before breeding. Imagine that they're about fourteen - it's possible, but odds are it won't happen for a while It's worth keeping a general eye out for eggs, but it probably won't happen until you've seen them either mating, courting or waving their parts about in a wanton manner. After that, it's probably permanent egg watch for you. On the plus side, if you miss any eggs, retics are relatively easy to rehome.

Just keep in mind what sort of daycycle your snails have. My snails get active some hour or so after that I have turned off the lights, so I have very rarely seen any of my snails being well excited Its just once or twice after I have given them a shower and put them back in their tank (had them for almost 6months in total now). So when their first batch of eggs arrived, it was a bit of a suprise for me, and since then Im always digging through the tank 1-2 times a week.
