I'm sorry if the answer is somewhere on this forum, I did have a look & found a bit of info but not as much as I wanted & I also want confirmation. Two of my snails have been off recently, another one was ill before but he's fine now & the rest haven't had any problems. One is around 4 months & I'm not sure of the others age but he's a bit older. One of them went into hibernation, I tried to wake him up & a lot of fluid came out & he hasn't moved at all since, the other has been retracted in his shell as much as I believe is probably possible for a few days now. I moved them to a seperate tank as a few of the other snails wouldn't leave one of them alone (one of them was actually in his shell?) I have been checking them a lot but don't seem to have moved. They were smelling a bit but only faint. Today they smelt like fish (which I saw on this forum means they've been dead for a few days) but again it's not overwhelming. I am certain they're dead & was going to put them in the freezer so I knew they were definitely dead & get rid of them but people keep telling me to leave them for a few days, I will listen to people on this forum though. I wanted to freeze them tonight, I can't stand them being there & don't want the smell to get worse. If anyone could help that would be brilliant. I just want to get it over with, I'm really upset, they were so healthy

I'm so sorry about your snails, daniellejess. I'd say from your description of the odor, they are dead. Sometimes our snails will pass away even though we do everything we can for them. There is so much we just don't know about snail illnesses or how to treat then when things go wrong. It is sad, but it happens.
May your snails rest in peace.

Thank you so much for answering me back, I will get rid of them straight after this and give the tanks a good clean out. I think I might split the others up for a while because seeing as they're all still small I keep most together but with them 2 dying then 1 was ill before that, I don't want it to happen to any of the others. Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it.
