Hi Everyone,
I'm sorry to be a pain as this is still about my dying - now dead snail.
I am 99.9% certain that Bryan is now dead. His foot and head are outside his shell but no eyestalks and no movement for 2 nights and 2 days. I removed his heat pad and stoppped spraying him last night.
I have to 100% sure that he is dead though before I bury him.
Does anyone know how long it will take for him to either shrivel/dry up or liquify? He still looks a bit slimey this morning but I have no idea what I'm looking for or how long it takes. If he is dead it will have been for 2 days now.
Many thanks (and this is the last question, I promise!)
Kate xx

I have seen dead slug it looked really weird felt really loose/sloppy like noodle and it had thick smelly slime on it was maybe some liquid from vital organs.
When life snails and slugs have little bit or much "tension" (depending how dig they are) on foot muscle if snail is still alive foot should not be shaken little should not wobble at all wildly. When snail/slug it's dead that normal "tension" of foot is gone and if it don't response even slowly to poking it could be dead.

I'm sorry about your snail. If he is dead, you should know for sure: just smell it. A dead snail starts smelling awfully after a couple of days. Also, you may notice its body being all floppy and liquids coming out from the inside. The smell is really, really unmistakeable.
