If snail can't eat it will be death by starvation. Snails can live about week without any food..
If you want to help only thing is usually what you can do is put snail to sleep.

I'd put him in the freezer for a couple of days, if you're sure it's gut extrusion. I don't know many things that look like it but hey, it can be easy to get confused when you're upset and panicked.

Oh ok Im new to this... it is def his gut! I cant put him to sleep.. Unfortunately there seems to be no way for a snail to recover from gut extrusion. If you don't put him to sleep humanely, he will have a long slow death. It's very hard to have to do this to a loved pet, but with an incurable problem such as gut extrusion, it's the kindest thing to do. Very sorry about your snail

Illness/Problems, this section is for non-snail related problems. Sorry to hear about your little fella, but 14years is really old for a snail, and he probably wont recover. 6years is a good age for a snail, so your doubling that and some. I'd just put him to sleep now, he's going to die anyway. I'm sorry about your poor snail, but he's lived a good life, and it's his right to go peacefully.

Hi dee, I'm so sorry about your snail. I'm afraid that what everyone else wrote here is true. Your snail will die regardless, and the humane thing to do is to euthanize him. Having to do that is part of the responsibility of snail ownership. We do what we can to take the best care of our snails, and when all else fails we must end their suffering. It sounds like your snail had a good long life with you, and I know this is not easy, but it is really the only option left.

Exotic snails are not use to quick temperature changes so it happens fast. There's not much ways because gals are so big that you don't have much quicker way to put them down than putting them in freezer.
There is not much researches of snails illnesses because they are in nature pests. Illnesses are really hard mostly there is not cure to them or you just can't prevent them. Because you snails is so old so age can be one factor too, like old people get easier some strains because body is weaked etc.
When you take snails as pets you have to just enjoy that time that you can spend with your snails you just can't see inside of them to see if everything is ok. Animals don't show they weaknesses because sick ones usually is then someones easy meal. You just need to be aware that sometimes with snails you need to help end their lifes on your own because vets care mammals and rarely reptiles not invertebrate. Even if vet would care about snails you have to wait time to appointment and I think it's just easier end pets life at home if it's possible so animal would not suffer long.

Thank you everyone for the support! How long do you leave in the freezer for? and how do you know when they are actually dead?

I'd leave them in the freezer for a couple of days. You'll know it's dead by the smell, and should have retracted really far into it's shell.
We really feel for you, we do. It's just part of life. I'd rather know I'd cared for him enough to stop the suffering.

I don't know, I've never had to do it. But if you leave him in there long enough, he will die.
Please do it soon. For his sake. I know it's hard, but he's in pain.

Not much, no. Their body wont be used to the cold and will automatically start shutting down. He'll just switch off.
