hi, I'm italian so... sorry for my english. I have 3 achatina (fulica? - i'm not sure, have been abandoned and I have adopted) at one of these is appeared a very strange protuberance from the mouth. I'm sorry to say this but... It could be gut extrusion, there's a sticky thread in Pest, Illness and Disease and it seems that insofar there is no cure, and all snails with it are put to sleep to end their suffering.
I'm terribly sorry, it's not very nice at all.

It looks like gut extrusion to me. I'm so sorry for the bad news, but it is fatal, and it's best to euthanize the snail as soon as possible because it can no longer eat.

Yes, I suspected. I had already asked in Italy (a forum like yours), and the response was the same, so I tried to ask another opinion...
Today I asked an expert in cold-blooded animals the "best way" for the euthanasia. Him opinion is the freezer... it causes a kind of lethargy without return.
