Hi, Ive seen some lovely pictures of plant filled tanks on here . What plants can you use? All suggestions appreciated. Also many people seem to have their tanks lit, dont snails like the dark? I cover mine up in the evening so that they dont get blinded by the artificial room light, is that wrong?

I think my snails are not effected from light. If it is moisty enough in there they lay somethimes not even under the leafs of the plants or under the wood. I use it for warming the tanks and the light is great for the plants too. I believe in that that snails know what they can eat or not from plants. They never touched the "Efeu" or "Farn" (no clue what they are in English). Both I think are considered as poissened (sp?) for humans. My snails never tried to eat from them. And they never ate from the bamboo.

There is a thread here about what plants are and aren't safe: petsnails.proboards3.com/index.cgi?board=habitat&action=display&n=1&thread=4756It tells you a list of toxic ones, then a list of non toxic. Hope that helps. As for light, the only one that seems to mind it (OR he might just be mega lazy lol I think it's probably that bbut anyway..) is my adult Margie. All the others come out with the lights on or off, infact all except that Margie are out right now! They don't have their own light, it's only the main light of my room and some light from the tv and monitor. But it's still bright.
