This is sort of in relation to Chris' thread, here. It's also in relation to the fact I got two snails stuck on my hand today!
I have three snails; a mature fulica and two young albino retics. The fulica, Avery, is, to be sure, pretty sticky and slimey. He spends a fair amount of time pretending to be a bat (even if he has fallen off the ceiling twice since I've had him... a little worried about getting a new tank as they're all so tall!). However, when it comes to cleaning his tank, giving him a bath, whatever, I can always slide him off whatever he's sitting on, be it the tank sides, his food bowl, the sink or my hand.
The two retics, on the other hand, are immovable. If they are sitting on a surface with no part of their foot off it, I cannot move them. Can't slide them, can't lift them, can't get my fingers under their tails. Which is a real pain when I'm trying to change their food, or I leave them on their own for twenty seconds and come back to find they've squelched off the bowl and onto the wall of the sink...
I was stupid enough to pick them both up today; I didn't want to risk Quark doing something mischievous while I was putting Odo back home.
I got them stuck. Quark literally wrapped his foot around my finger... it was like my finger was wearing a snail hoody. I almost wanted to draw a face on it and take a picture. Odo had just melted across my palm and they WOULD NOT BUDGE. I felt like I might be doing them an injury as I wormed myself free.
So... after all that. Snail stickiness; is it individual to each snail, each species... are albinos generally stickier than dark skinned? Or do I just have two snails that think mucus and super-glue are the same thing?
