I was thinking of getting a log or something for the snails to climb on, and have just thought that pet shops do lots of bird pirches and toys made from wood, but i am unsure if they'd be suitable. Would these be ok? - of course it would not be a hanging wobbily thing with beads and bells, but it might be ammusing ;D

i dunno but its a great idea to me, i just used a clean stone or brick or maybe a pile of gravel though it would stick to the snails lol.

Just have to watch that the snails don't fall from the tank lid, which they sometimes do when you go to take it off, if there is something hard in the tank like a brick or a stone and the snail falls on to it, it could crack its shell.

I'd also be too worried about them falling onto brick or anything like it. That's why I use plastic plant pots. They move them around, but I feel safer about them.
Wood would also be a worry but not as much maybe. I'd be more worried about it going mouldy. I tried using a bendy log hamster thing in my tank before but it just went so mouldy from the spraying.

i was thinking of a putting log propped up the side at the back, the big snails have never fallen off the roof, and even seem to be able to hold onto the wire mesh, with 5mm squires!

Some seem to have better grip than others. I think it's mainly when they get tired, they forget they're on the side or roof and just.... go lol.
I have a plastic hamster house thing in one of mine which is also dangerous, but I feel it's less so than a normal plant pot or a brick etc.
