Hi this is a bit of an icky subject but my snails have been eating their poo . I am just wondering is this normal?. They eat their darker coloured poos but leave the white coloured ones. I know that some animals eg guinea pigs have to digest their food twice to get all the nourishnent they need but ive searched the forum and the petsnails website and i cant find anything like that about snails.By the way they are fulica (i think). My digital camera is broke so i cant post a piccy for identification.I pray for the day when i start getting the hang of this snail keeping thank god everyone seems to be nice i would have killed me by now for all the stupid questions. Renamed - CroSSLeSS

I think it's normal. I've seen my snails do this too sometimes (mostly when the poo lays on the food ), and they aren't sick or something like that. So I shouldn't really bother about it.

Mine eat their poo also. I think it's because the food hasn't been fully digested so it still has nutrients in it when they expell it, so they give it another go.

thats a relief i thought they were just being weird they actually eat the poo as it is coming out so they must like it nice and fresh. Lovely habits they've got eh?

Actually it´s healthy for them to eat their own poo. I wish they keep doing that, is a good thing lool.
