Hi everyone, today I managed to add a species to my Hygromiidae pages, which only lives in parts of mainland Europe, but, as I understand it, is quite common in Britain: The Kentish snail (Monacha cantiana). For us, that's quite an interesting snail, as it has been introduced in North Germany (but only proven so for some years) and in East Austria around Vienna (where there are numerous interesting introduced species - Cornu aspersum, Cernuella virgata, Hygromia cinctella, only to name some of them). My sources say that the Kentish snail is found in southern and eastern England, in a disperse manner also in Wales, Northwest England and Scotland. In the meantime I have read the snail is also found in Yorkshire, which, as I recall from being to Scarborough, is in the east. I'd be interested in hearing, from which locations in Britain you know this snail, and in which habitats they live. Here is what I have on the Kentish snail, so far: www.weichtiere.at/english/gastropoda/terrestrial/hygromiidae.html#m_cantiana. Also: Any good pictures you might have and would be willing to provide would be extremely helpful and very much appreciated, because I also have the source that Monacha cantiana basically looks like a larger Monacha cartusiana (which is why it is called Large Cartusian Snail in German), but so far I have seen several pictures on which the snail was dark red and looked more like a Cepea nemoralis (but obviously wasn't one). Thanks a lot for your help, Kind regards Robert
