I didn't see anything on the main site about this. We have a small wild grove snail with a semi-transparent shell. I've noticed fluid inside of the shell, and I'm just wondering if this is normal and just not talked about because most shells are opaque or what.
We're in the northeastern US, and it was in hibernation when we brought it inside. It also has some damage to the innermost whorls of the shell, although it appears to be cosmetic. It's behaving very well, shows a lot of interest in food and exploration and even sounds and lights, so I doubt it's really sick.

Hi there,
if the damage is not extensive, the snail should be able to repair it! Concerning the fluid, I would assume it is blood (or better body fluid aka. hemolymph), which in snails is colourless and, the snail having an open circulation should also be outside the blood vessels (of which snails do have at least some).
Kind regards Robert
