Wednesday morning when I was misting the tank, I noticed my fulica Bacardi being quite retracted, around 1½ cm or so up in the shell. I inspected him closely, along with the other snails, and couldnt find anything crawling around on either one of them.
I began stroking him on the shell, and after some minutes, he came out and poked his head out, and I placed him on the substrate and he began sliming around, only to fall asleep in a nearby flower pot.
Thursday I noticed he was still a bit retracted, but not at all as much as before, I gave him a little shower and cleaned his shell and he almost instantly came out, and today I once again found him a bit retraced, but just a few milimeters, and before I fed the snails this evening, I did find a rather large batch of eggs... I'm not sure if it was him or one of the other snails that had laid it.. So just wondering.. Has anyone experienced a snail being exhausted due to egg laying so that it have retracted? I have seen him eating, and at the moment, he is sliming on the glass door.
I was first thinking about maybe isolating him for himself a bit, but since the retraction was so small today, I thought I'd wait and see how he is tomorrow.
I'd also like to add, that he dosnt have any swelling or damage anywhere that could cause a retraction.
The other snails in the tank havn't been retracting, so I doubt it could be due to wrong conditions, I'm keeping the humidity around 80% and the temperature is around 23 degrees (going to invest in another heat math), and they do have a little warmer spot up near the roof of the tank where the heat lamp is (lamp is on the outside, and they cant get burned by it )
