I found these two munching away on my meyer lemon tree and decided to take them with me! The small one is Siegfried. As you can probably tell from the picture, he's extremely energetic for a snail. He was crawling on Rona's shell all morning. >> And the big one is, of course, Rona. My friend named her. She is pretty inactive. She sleeps or hangs out all day until she gets hungry or thirsty. x) In their tank right now, there are a couple of branches for climbing on, a little plastic tunnel, and a food bowl with some curly kale and crushed up eggshell. I am going to the pet shop today to get them a cuttlebone and one of those foam log things. For some reason, they like to sleep upside down on the roof of their tank. It's a bit annoying because I can't really see them (the roof is opaque). Is that normal? Also, I thought this was pretty cute...It took them about 16 hours to realize that they were in a tank with each other. They prefer opposite sides, I guess. xP Attachments:

yay Siegfried! have you read 'Siegfried the adventurous snail' by any chance? Nice story. Yes it's completely normal for snails to hang around upside-down while resting. They all have their own preferences with where they prefer to rest, but many of them choose the tank lid. Sounds like you've got the set-up right for them. Hope you enjoy your new pets

Haha, I have not but I'll Google it! I named him after a character from Soul Calibur (a video game). o3o
Thanks for answering my question, and for the vote of confidence. ^^

Lovely little snails! Mine usually go up to the lid after I've changed the tank; it's normal behavior. A few plants (either real ones in pots or fake aquarium plants stuck into the substrate) in the tank will give them some foliage to hide in and crawl around on. My aspersas seem to like plants with bigger leaves, wide enough for them to fit on with some extra room around the edges.

Just a little update. Rona and Siegfried are both still alive and well, and growing very fast! It's been a week since I got them both, and Siegfried has doubled in size! Can't wait until they're big enough for me to hold regularly. c:
