Hello ! :)
My name is Courtney and I am new here. I joined to share information with others. Anyway, my snail keeps eating at its shell and twisting its self to get at the shell. The shell is flaky. Does this have an impact?
Thanks

Hi Courtney, welcome to the forum. What kind of calcium source are you providing for your snail? Do you see your snail rasping at it or does it seem to ignore it? Sometimes a snail will rasp its own shell to smooth out a rough spot that is irritating it, but it could also be trying to get the calcium in it. And since you mentioned a flaky shell, the first thing that needs to be ruled out is not enough calcium.

Hi coyote, Thanks for the lovely welcome! Tilly gets cuttlefish bone, limestone flour (a calcium powder we use on our tortoises), and Nutrobal (a calcium powder.).
Thanks.
