Hey everyone I ordered an Achatina Albopicta today, and for the past few days I have been trawling through the forum and the internet to find some information on care. If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated Love Taran xxx

Hi Taran
These are one of my favourite species! They are closely related to Achatina reticulata and I have found the care to be similar. Mine are in a shed heated to about 20-22C and I don't give them any more than that, no heat mat or anything. They seem pretty hardy although like reticulata they can loose condition and die after egg laying - I lost my adults last year although it might have been due to my heater failure too - so I recommend lots of feeding up and tlc after breeding.
Sorry that is not very detailed but if you have any questions I will do my best to answer.

Hi, I haven´t had them yet, but it´s quite common species in CZ. It can grow up to 16 cm, mostly 8-12cm. It grows very quickly (similar to a. reticulata) and it can reach its final lenght a few months after its birth. Unfortunately it tends to interbreed with reticulata so you have to be careful while buying it. An "clean" albopicta´s leg is all beige without a stripe typical for reticulata and also a red or dark pink apex. There are more informations on our czech site (http://www.achatina.cz/view.php?cisloclanku=2009040002)... I can translate it, if you like, but this what I wrote is the most important from it .
