Hi there! (okay, im going to try type in good english, sorry for any mistakes) I've had one a. fulica for a half year now. And I got two a. fulica albino bodied ones yesterday from ness (yay!) I've been studying them (believe me, i can watch them for hours ) My a. fulica is acting really weird since the new ones have arrived. At first he immediately went to take a look at those "strange" snails. I've noticed that hes foot is slightly curled up all the way around the ends and there is this white "thing" coming out of its body beside his head. (think hes reproductive organ?) It's really weird cuz i've never seen this behavior before. Sometimes if I take a look, he looks normal again, but at another time, just with no reason at all it seems, he has this curled foot again.. (it's really clear to see, especially when he is agains the class) I was wondering, this behavior, is it a dominant thing? An agressive thing? I most certainly know it is because there are 2 newcomers in his tank (his terratorium?) Or is it a friendly thing, maybe he is ready to mate? (because of the white thing beside his head pops out sometimes) Does anyone reconise this behavior with their snails? poek

snails are social creatures, the love dart, is on the side like you said it is, and yes it is probably because there are new comers. I personally like to view snails activity as they used to in the old days...when two enemies reach a truce, it was often customary to have a son and daughter of each get married and consummate to 'join' the families and thus make all one big family with their offspring....but who knows if this is actually how the snails view it. :-)

It's normal for an adult snail's reproductive organ to appear from time to time, and it can happen even to a snail all alone in a tank without any companions, so it may or may not be related to the new snails. As for the foot-curling behavior, I don't have a clue as to what that might be. Is it possible to get a pic of it and post it here?

I'm constantly amazed by my snails I started thinking that they were just.... well...snails..and now they are becoming more of an individual. For the foot-curling.. I cant make any pictures right now, because my sister has gone on vacation and she took my camera She will be back at the 26th so then I will post a picture of it! (if he is still doing that curly thing haha) You can only see it when you look really good, like you need to pay attention and look at his foot at another time to see the difference. The middle of his foot is clearly sticking to the glass and the edges aren't, they aren't touching the glass and are slightly curled away from the rest from the foot (woah this is really hard to explain in english ) it's not really curled, but you can see a clear difference as the normal foot. (okay im going to shut up now and wait for my camera to get back ) I hope the new ones are being accepted
