Found a Snail today that had been run over by the kids on their bikes. I picked him up & noticed although he was badly injured he was still alive. All the front part of his shell was broken and he was unable to retract BUT all his insides were intact so I took him home & settled him in a tub with a bit of substrate & moss, cucumber & cuttlebone. He's eaten & is now snuggled in the moss. I'm hoping he'll survive & the cuttle & limestone powder will help him heal. I've christened him Arfur, coz he's only got half his shell

Arfur is still alive He's eaten a whole piece of cucumber sprinkled with limestone flour & fish flakes, which he guzzled. I've just checked on him & he's doing his new version of sleeping...Pulling his eyes & nose stalks in & just laying flat as he can no longer retract into his shell as most of the front is missing. His air hole is now visible & I noticed his damaged shell moving up & down when he breaths. He hasn't deteriated & the fact he's been eating I'm feeling hopeful. He seems to know I'm helping him.....fingers crossed everyone

Good luck with Arfur, don`t allow the tank to dry out, a daily spray and keep up with the food and calcium and you might just be lucky. The fish food is one of the best things to `pick up` a poorly snail. Regards Paul www.bugz2go.com

Hello Arfur here... Thanku so much for all your good wishes. As you may have noticed the fact I've pinched my Mums computer means I'm skin great. It took a while to get me better BUT with all the love & fuss and sweet potato, cucumber smothered in fishflakes ( that's my fave ) I survived to wreak havoc, as my mum says. I have a terrible scar on my shell BUT it's very strong now coz of me being Spoilt. I live a lovely life with my Aspersa, Nemoralis & Hortensis friends in a large house with 2 plantpot bedrooms, moss, ivy & basil. I love to sit and watch telly with my mum, although when her friends come round I have to do the rounds of cuddle COZ I'm so Gorgeous. I'm also very fast & good at hiding on bath nite which annoys mum no end ( Lol ) Well I must slime off as I've been caught typing.......Oops wasn't fast enuff, mums got me So it's off to bed.....lots of Slimes Arfur Snail ;D
