I'm sorry if I'm bringing up things that have already been explained to death before, I've looked around the web and searched the forum but found nothing related.
I've only had my snails for around two weeks, so still in the learning/paranoia phase and due to my own work forced sleep pattern my snails get no sunlight through the week. And what they do get is of course not direct sunlight, just what they'd get from being around 7 foot from an uncovered window in their plastic container.
Basically I have 4 snails, all of which ended up with a few white spots on their shells, just like a human gets on their finger nails when they have a lack of calcium. I assumed this was because for most of the first week I had them they went without anything like cuttlefish but since fixing that all but one of the snails has lost the spots and grown quite an incredible amount. It's not like they were all the same size when I had them, though they're siblings they were all slightly different sizes.
So basically I'm wondering if they need more sunlight than almost none, and if so how to actually go about positioning them. I mean I live in Wales, known for being perpetually cold and grey and while I wouldn't rule out getting some kind of lamp that seems like a last resort. Thanks in advance, apologies for being a badgering fool.
