I accidently put in soil with fertiliser when I was cleaning my snailies' container. Does fertiliser affect my snails' health, or is it okay to leave it in there? cuz my snails don't seem to have any problemo with it and it is hard to find potting soil in my area. what should I do???

www.petsnails.co.uk/care/substrate.htmlIn my humble opinion, it is very risky to keep snails on fertilised soil, they can get allergic reaction from chemicals, resulting in swelling or gut extrusion. They dont have to, but they might. If you dont have any fertiliser free soil, just keep them without soil, until you get something else for them. You can get substrate blocks from ebay or sphagnum moss.

Yes I agree with Iloncia, snails are very sensitive to chemicals and can absorb chemicals through their skin. It would be best to remove them from the soil and gove them a little bath. You can house them on damp paper towels in a smaller tub temporarily (for a couple of days) until you can get to the shops if you don't have any moss/coir/natural soil.

I too agree with the above, I wouldn't keep them on fertilised soil either.

I too would avoid fertilized soil. Do you have anything you can dilute it with in the meantime, such as any moss or coir you can mix into it to thin it down from being full-strength?

even though it isn't needed I will agree with everyone above, except it really does depend on what the fertilizer is, and I would always rather be safe then sorry and forget diluting it, because frankly the miniscule amount of the wrong stuff can and will create problems. ultimately it just isn't worth it probably. to mess around guessing, and depending on the fertilizer it can have slow or time released aspects. in fact all fertilizers now are pretty much made for that. and most also contain insecticides also. a little dab is meant to do things like snails and slugs/grubs in, because it deals with condensation from dew, and rain and watering/etc. and even though it might not be a instant kill, depending on what is used, who knows what kind of effects it will have honest....no one probably.....cause not much real research is probably done

Does it say what fertilizer exactly it contains saki114? List of added chemicals? Its a broad term - and might not be anything to worry about - garden snails lay eggs just fine in my house plant pots, and theyre heavily dosed with a nitrogen based feed.
