One month ago i took under my care 3 snail, 2 marginata and 1 tiny albino fulica. I ordered for them sphagnum moss and coir substrate, but delivery took a week and they were sitting on lettuce leaves for a week, before coir substrate arrived.
A very nice lady, who sold them to me, said, that they like to burrow in deep substrate.
Sterile coir substrate for reptiles, gals, etc. it says on the label and i prepared according to instruction using filtered water, but my snails hate it.
I filled the bottom of tank with it and placed snails on it, they went to the walls, i put them back, went to cuttlefish, put them back, went to moss...
I left it for 5 days, but little slimers, avoided it, like fire, finding ways to pass from one place to another and not to step on it.
Now, they got sphagnum moss bedding, which they love to sleep on and underneath it and eat a lot of it, leaving naked stems behind....
I just wonder, if it's healthy for them to eat it?

I think they will be okay eating it. I think all snails ingest some of their substrate, regardless of what it is.

The last lot of coir substrate I bought was finer grained and smelled different to the previous one. I knew they wouldn't like it so I mixed some of the older stuff in it. They love their moss and disappear into it and have a nibble on it too.

I ordered more moss from ebay, about 1kg, it holds moisture and warmth very well.
