my snail is not overly fussy but he dose seem to choose lattice and cucumber over other things. he'll have a nibble at apple and red pepper and I've planted some cress is his box but he doesn't seem very interested (though they are not leafy let) and introduced some carrot pealing today (i'll keep you updated if he like that or not).
is this enough to nibble at other stuff or should i take away the lettuce and cucumber to encourage him to try the other stuff? or maybe dust the new food types with cal powder to encourage him to eat it?
baring in mind he had grown loads with only nibbling and has a very dark healthy looking shell (side question is it normal that he's gone from having a dark/light stripy shell to a very dark coloured shell?).

Variety is always best but some are fussy. Many snails are not too keen on carrot. Sweet potato usually goes down well, as does sweet corn, and some like mushrooms and a bit of apple. I'd try those four things and then experiment with other food. If all else fails and your snails really are very fussy then just add a few fish flakes to their cucumber . it's worth doing this once or twice a week anyway.

cool. yeah he'll try pepper and he's had a tiny bit of a nibble on the carrot (and has decided that in the middle of the crest is a good place to sleep lol). so he dose have a tiny bits of other stuff but not very much. lol Cucumber is not a problem he'll wolf that down i will get some fishflakes next time i go past a pet shop =)

My tigers don't even like romaine lettuce or cucumber, having tried everything I found that they like mango, sweet potato, butternut squash or apricot and occasional nibbles at babycorn. They have finally decided that they like fish food, and judging by their poop they are eating their moss. At least they eat their calcium!

I've found the only way I could get my snails to eat foods other than cucumber and lettuce was to stop offering them cucumber and lettuce completely. That forced them to try the other things I was offering, and they began to eat a better-balanced diet that way.

try romaine and iceberg (even though it doesn't contain a lot of nutrients), but it sure will fill them up
