I read that you can encourage breeding by putting the two snails you want to breed in to a small enclosure (not too small) with little or no substrate plenty of food and a bit of cuttlebone, because being in a small area not able to burrow they will have less time to focus on their surroundings and more time to focus on eachother

They also wouldn't be able to burrow their eggs.....I guess snails will breed when they're ready for it......

I can't see it working. Like Arno says, where would they lay their eggs. I guess they can store sperm, but. Hmm Don't know. I guess its worth a shot if someone is really desperate for theirs to breed. Nat

I've seen commercial snail farms use a pot of substrate so the snails lay their eggs in the pot. However, whether the snails choose to spend time there is debatable, possibly not.
I think there is some merit in the idea, because one snail can induce another to mate. So a smaller tank would bring about an encounter quicker. I think a period of separation beforehand may help also.
