i have a batch of margie eggs which were laid 3 weeks ago they have all got white patches on the shells i read in another thread that if this happens they are proberly not going to hatch so i cracked 2 open and got goo but then cracked the 3rd one and there is a fully developed baby inside just over half the egg size the membrane that attaches it to the egg did not break so i have pushed the shell together the best i could does anyone know if this baby will survive as i am kicking myself now as it was my 1st lot of margie eggs i have left the other 4 eggs alone i will not be cracking anymore

3 weeks and cracked the eggs is a bit too early, but never mind. I have got eggs that changed colour, turned into whitish colours too, but I just left them alone and the eggs hatched. I don't believe this theory that the eggs changed colours and they are no good. My friend has hatched a lot of margies eggs and she mentioned that she has eggs that hatched after 9 weeks. I don't know about the baby whether it will survive or not as I have no experienced with that. Sorry can't help you with that.

Fingers crossed... It is hard to just wait and cant do anything to help the little babies to hatch. But I hope the margiebaby survives, and all the other eggs too.

Mine develop white/light patches a few hours after I've removed them from the tank, but I have 3 babies and each of the eggs had the patches on. They've also all had brown on them too. Felix, do you know what temp those 9 week eggs were kept at? I don't know about the baby either, sorry. I hope it pulls through though

Felix, do you know what temp those 9 week eggs were kept at? My friend uses the incubator to hatch all her eggs, and it is set to 30C degree all the time, i.e. day and night. I have borrowed hers at the moment, trying to hatch the lignus and 2 of the albino eggs. So will have to wait and see.

White patches CAN be a bad sign, if the white patch is dry looking, this isn't good, it means they have been kept too warm and the goo inside has began to go hard, but white patches can develop if the substrate they are kept in isn't damp enough or they are not covered :-) Is the mantle showing at all on the baby? that would be bad and he would most likely die if there is no mantle showing he may be ok :-)
