We are delighted to have two very young reticulata. They eat loads of food, and really enjoy being handled. However, when I leave them alone, and when they are not eating, they seem to spend much time [almost] in their shells. Is this normal? Thank you.

my young reticulatas also sleep most of the day. late in the evening the wake up, and eat a lot, and when i get up in the morning, the have already burried themselves. but i think they look happy.. maybe, they have to grow a lot? at least my grow very fast and they have to get much bigger still.

Hi Birte, Thanks for your reply. Paul said similar so I am quite reassured. Just afraid of doing something wrong. They are beautiful snails.

Hi Birte I think your baby reticulata and mine are related. Did you get yours from Fredrik? My two are called Fredrik and Paul. Fredrick is the most active of the two, but both are fairly lazy compared to my fulica. Have been so worried about them. Your previous post did reassure me, thanks!!!! I have noticed that they are most active at night, and they both like to bury deep most of the day. I guess, then, this is normal reticulata behaviour. Thanks again, Correne PS I think your names, Clarence and Kathmandu are great names! Have called my sthulmani Nelson and Luther.

omg, just saw this pic of my two little retis! they are now almost 3 times as big ;D @correne: no, i didn't get mine from fredrik, but from someone in germany, who breeds them. maybe he somewhen got some from him? or baby reticulata just look similar i love giving names to my snails nelson and luther are great names! i think 'big' names for small animals are so sweet ( you know what i mean ?) so what are the names of your reticulata? my stuhlmanni are called Shaquana, Sansibar, Hakuna and Matata ;D birte

Hi Birte, You have chosen such elegant names! My snails are called: fulica - Arthur and Dent as a tribute to Douglas Adams reticulata - Fredrik and Paul (Fredrik is the most active! ) stuhlmanni - Luther (after Martin Luther King) and Nelson (after Nelson Mandela) am thinking of names for next lot, because there will be more, and more........

My tigers are active at night but not in the day too. All my snails have weird names, like; Kibeth, dave, saraneth, salty and dianna. If I get a mate for Kibeth it will be called Brian sophie

I love the name Bryan - it's my dad's name. My son is called Daniel Matthew Bryan, or Dan-the-Man, as he prefers to be called. I will not say what his big sister calls him.

UPDATEOur reticulata seem to be growing more so we are very pleased. Have noticed when I clean the tanks each morning that their tank is the messiest. The food is all over the place. They have incredibly beautiful shells and their bodies are very elegant. Correne
