Right, lol let me try and explain meself!
When I first started keeping the gals, I tried garden snails with them for a short time (this was before I even thought about disease) Well my gals went straight to the lid and stayed there until I took the garden ones out.
I then had the same kind of thing happen when I put the Margie in the big tank with my adult Fulica. They wouldn't go near him and slept on the opposite side of the tank to him.
They soon settled down, but recently I moved the baby Smithii into the same tank as my Iredalei, and he is doing the same.
The thing is, he's still doing it! They've been in for days and he's not been in his house since they went in. (He usually always sleeps in it) But since they went in he's been sleeping on the roof and up on th sides.
Today I swapped the Smithii for my Panthera to see if that made any difference, but if it doesn't.... do you think he'll ever get used to them?! The plan is to keep him, the panthera and 1 smithii in a tank together. But I don't want him being out of sorts the whole time. I don't know if he's still eating propely because of it either, I haven't seen him eat much.
Has anyone else had this with their snails? Do you think the Iredalei is just a bit more sensitive?

My iredaleiĀ“s are in their own tank and they are always all 3 together on the sides of the tank or hanging on the lid or on a plant. They have been never on the ground, just for placing some babies in the soil....

Well mine has a little house with moss in, and since I put him in the tank he hasn't slept anywhere else but that house. But I haven't seen him in it since the other snails went in there

Oh just ignor them, i'm sure people over react about there snails on here. They'll be fine just leave them to it, mine where like that at first but now they all love eachother :-) and the babies have formed a group and the biggies have formed a group although the babies love the adults especially when it means they can play king of the castle on their shells lol

My iradelei only live on the sides and top of the tank too, never on the ground unless they are hungry

That Nisbet paper mentions that they had a few tiger snails that didn't like the company of margies and so spent most of their time buried. Well, that is the reason behind it they thought and gave. So there could be something in it. Perhaps he went to his normal sleeping place and it was occupied and he hasn't been back since.
Is he still eating? I think this gives the best indicator of how happy snails are.

I'm not over reacting I'm just telling people what I've seen and asking bout my lil Carson, 'cause he didn't do the same. And awww at the babies lol. Carson must have only just realised he's an Iredalei then lol. I don't think I've him higher than his house at all in that tank before I put new snails in Lol. He is eating, but not as much. And he's silly if he thinks it was occupied... it's big enough for all 3 of them Lol.

How big is he because mine used to stay on the ground when they where ickle, and when the hit 4cm they started sleeping on the top and sides

He's about 3.5 cm. I think I'll take the Panthera out for a few days and see what happens. It might just be coincidence, but the fact that he changed in a day after new snails went in is a bit strange to me lol (But then I am a paranoid person. I have to hide or they'll get me! ) (And I just noticed I missed a letter in the title rofl)

Lol @ That age. Sounds like puberty in snails or something lol. Has anyone else seen this in any snails? Or are me and Sarah the only special ones? lol

Strangely enough my iredalei didn't like change either!!! He is in a small tank with the baby tigers and a while ago I put him in the bigger tank with the dimidiatas, well you know your own pet don't you and he was definitely different, didn't eat and just stayed stuck to the lid!!! He is now back in with the tigers. I think snails can be quite sensitive to change and definitely show it if they are not happy.

Huzzah it's not just Carson lol. I'm gonna see if he settles in better with the panthera, and if not I'll have to think of something else lol. I had it all listed too! Who was in what tank with who! Why can't they stay organized Lol My Fulica and Dimi babies were fine together, but they were in a bigger tank. So maybe that also has something to do with it? I was wondering if the size of the snails had any influence also as the Smithii babies are much smaller than Carson, as are my Fulica adults compared to the Margie. The Dimi and Fulica babies were roughly the same size.

I just feel that they simply get used to the company they have always had. My iredalei has been in with the tigers since I first got him, I think I shall always keep them together now, they just seem to like each other ;D

I would think he's already stressed if he's out of sorts. And not swapping them around to make him feel at ease again will put him under constant stress. So swapping them to find something that works makes more sense to me than leaving snails in there that keep him permanently stressed. And at the moment he can't stay on his own again as the other tanks aren't ready yet. I'll be keeping an eye on him anyway. And that doesn't bode well Val lol. Carson had been kept alone since I got him Nevermind. If he has to stay alone then that's fine. Iredalei stay small anyway don't they?

Its not an Iradeli but if I may bring a Fulica into the conversation. George did exactly as you said, I put two panthera babies in with him and he headed straight for the lid, three days later he ventured down and I now find him cuddled up with one of them most days. A week later I put some of his own babies in with them, up went George to the top again, he still seems a bit diconserted but came down again after the same three day stint. Definately more than coincedence.

Thanks for that ;D Is nice to see it's not only my snails that do it lol. (And it's fine, I want to know about any others doing it too, my Fulica have done it too as said.) The problem seems to be sorted now (it maybe only temp so my fingers are crossed incase lol) When the Panthera went in, Carson still went to the sides/roof, so before I went to bed I thought, right it's kinda like it is with a child *rofl* he needs to be shown/told it's ok. So I took him down and put him in the house WITH the Panthera! (I bet if snails could swear, he would have hahaha) The next morning neither were in the house, but both were hiding under the cuttlefish together And today they were both in the house! Granted they're not as close as they were under the cuttlefish, but there is more room in the house lol I'm still thinking it's slightly to do with size also, the Smithii were tiny compared to him, but the Panthera is only a tiny bit bigger than him.

My Iredalei always sleeps on the top of the tank to. She HATES the dimidiata she lives with. I mean really. I don't know why, he's lovely, but I think she got used to being on her own, she never goes near him. My fulica always snuggle together, but not my Nancy. Maybe its just their nature to be shy. She's very happy, she just doesn't think much of poor Sid.

Lol. Well Carson and Jose shared some spinach last night, and I haven't seen him on the roof again yet so fingers crossed still lol. Maybe he thought the Smithii were too small to be friendly snails and thought they were really aliens
