Hi everyone
Just a quick question. When I take my fulica's out of their tank and give them a gentle wash they come to life very quickly and almost try to get out of their shells?? They come right out and stretch as far as possible. It actually looks like its quite painful..
Does anyone else notice this? Am I doing something wrong?

Welcome to the exciting world of snails! It's perfectly normal so don't worry! They enjoy being 'bathed' and sprayed. When i give my storage tanks a full weekly clean and put my snails back in they spend ages exploring the tank all over again! Sally x

All my snails just love bath or shower time also. They stretch right up towards the water as it dribbles on them. In the bath they lay right down and go back and forth in the tub like they are trying to swim. Sounds like yours are enjoying bath time too

mine always retracts his eyes when i spray, even if i avoid wetting them. is that just him being different or a sign i might be scaring him?
he does seem to like sitting in his water though. Erica

Some of mine will pull their eye stalks in but others stretch right up towards the spray. Think it might be just a defensive thing with some, they are protecting their eyes from danger.

Mine are always very active just after they come into contact with a lot of moisture. My immac hardly ever goes to the roof, but after a lot of spraying or a bath, he goes straight up!
I think this is actually because they are trying to get away from the water! They must think they have been in heavy rain and don't want to get drowned in a big puddle.
I've noticed that snails in the garden do the same thing when it rains.
