I was wondering where other peoples Lignus have been laying their eggs. Mine have laid three batches now, and 2 of the three batches have been laid in the roots of their tree. The third batch was the roots of their fern. Could roots be the natural place for them? They dig holes quite often in different places around the tank, but never leave the eggs in these random holes.

Its not just lignus that seek out the base of plants to lay thier eggs. All the small species I keep will specifically locate roots for laying if available.

Must be because they are the only ones with real plants. The others lay them everywhere

Its something Im mentioning on my plants list page, I think real plants genuinely benefit the snails natural behaviours (especially non achatina/archachatina species).

I agree. In the tank with live plants they seem so much happier. I don't bother with plants for margies and tigers as they just bulldoze everything anyway, but I am going to add live plants to the rest of my small species.

Yes my lignus did similar, I had a branch in their tank and where the branch was wedged into the substrate that is where they laid their eggs. val

At least it makes them easier to find! Give you a starting point for looking
