So I figured that when the sun really started coming up was when snails started to try to find a place to hide, so I went out to check the lure (I figured that term made more sense than trap), and there were 3 snails! That makes my snail count come to 9, which I believe to be 8 Praticolella Mexicana, and 1 Polygyra.

Nice looking Snails. Zorst Thank you Zorst. I'm hoping for some Succinea, Cochlodinella, Orthalicus, and others.

They are going crazy for the food I put in there! I guess they didn't get a lot of food in the wild!

The only thing one has done is eat a huge chunk of carrot, while another two explored, and the rest quickly devoured the sweet potato. Should I put in more?

Whoa! Three more snails at the lure! They only really seem to like the mashed fish flakes though, not the beer.

If all food is eaten, you can add in more. Wild caught ones often binge like crazy, until they learn that their days of searching for food in many dangerous places are over.

They still are a little shy, but some appear to be warming up to me.

Aha! I have figured out what that one is! It's a Polygyra septemvolva, or Florida Flatcoil!

I have some pictures!
Here's one of my biggest Scrubsnails:
Here's my Flatcoil! (He's a little shy):
Here are their enclosures, maybe temporary, it depends on how big they get:
One with a lid, one without

I set up my hose so that its "raining" over a patch with lots of weeds, and put out another lure. I wonder if results will be different.

I also scrubbed Luna's shell with a soft tooth brush. She didn't like it, but she is brighter now.

Lovely snails! I wish I had some of those species in my area. Glad to hear the idea worked.

Lovely snails! I wish I had some of those species in my area. Glad to hear the idea worked. If it's legal I'd be happy to send you a few dozen! They come to my lure in droves and it's hard not to keep them all! I can only do the scrubsnails currently, because I've one found one flatcoil.

So I set up some more lures. I truly believe fish food mash works better than beer. I have gotten zero on the beer plate since I put the fish food out. We'll see in the morning.

Ahhh, I would love to, but unfortunately it's illegal to ship snails anywhere around the U.S. :/

There were a LOT of snails at the lure this morning, unfortunately all were scrubsnails and I already have tons of those.
