one of my Maximas is losing the top layer of his shell. He has always been a poor grower but been active and eating. Can anyone come up with any Ideas?
My other maxima is fine, he is huge and his shell is beautiful. Tonight I saw that he was stuck to the side of the tank with what looked like a bubble of mucus surrounding him. It doesn't look like an epiphram. I saw a wild aspersa doing this a few nights ago. Can anyone explain this behaviour. He hs never done this before. Thanks mickysnail

I know that sometimes when snails get older they'll loose the top layer of the shell(periostracum),since you said he wasn't growing too well it probably makes it worse. The mucus surrounding the snail is usually to defend themselves against some kind of threat or irritation, but I don't know why your snail would do this in the tank.
