This, although relatively common, has never happened to my snails... so I do not know from experience, but I believe this to be gut extrusion. There are posts on how to deal with it that I could uncover if you want.

I'm not good in English. I found some info here in the forum for gut extrusion but I can't understand that well what to do. Can someone please explain me in a simple way what can I do to help him.

Basically, pop the white liquid part and drain it. Then push it back in the mouth, as much you can, and leave the snail in a small tank till healed.

I don't want to make a mistake. Can you tell me exactly where to punch the white thing so the liquid comes out?

Sorry for the double post. By the way I tried to put the thing back in his mouth without popping the liquid out of it because I don't know where to punch it. It got out again after it seemed that the method would work...

Poor fellow. You pop the white/gray/clearish part.

Pop the clear part of the thing poking out of his mouth with a sterilized (clean) needle or other sharp implement.

There isn't much point in sterilizing the needle since the snail isn't sterile, but you could dip it in some alcohol and wait for it to dry if you're worried.
Be fearless... snails get love darts all time, they are pretty tough when it comes to punctures.

I did the 'surgery' yesterday with a sterile needle. The snail tried to get the thing back in his mouth but it didn't work. He retracted in his shell and he hasn't come out since then. I don't force him to wake up. He sleeps with his foot out of his shell as normal(when he was ok). Other advices? What can I do when he wakes up? It seems he just couldn't get back the thing in his mouth.

Can you help put it back in with the narrow end of a small coffee spoon?
You might also need to use the needle again.

My English is bad. Hope you understand what I mean and help He woke up.I tried but it gets back out again so I decided not to force him and wait for him to fix the things by himself(I thought that after I poped it he will be able to recover) after a while but it didn't happen... At the moment it's swollen(i gave the snail some water) like it was before the yesterday 'surgery'. The snail seems ok for now but I just don't know how to help him. Here are some new photos. If you draw in the pics where to pop again with the needle(I won't give up) I might be have more courage and this time things might work. prikachi.com/images.php?images/828/8486828u.jpgprikachi.com/images.php?images/829/8486829j.jpgprikachi.com/images.php?images/833/8486833T.jpgOr could it be some other illnes, not gut extrusion because this thing is moving and it's strange. It doesn't look the same like most gut extrusion photos.

Hey Trick I think I had similar issue before , petsnails.proboards.com/thread/14779/swelling-genital-pore-weird-containedDifference is the thing comes out from the mouth of you snail , and it comes out from genital pore of mine. It started off small but it will continue to grow bigger , I didn't touch it (surgery) for over 6-8 months and it was fine until the point it was too big , the snail will become inactive and the white bubble and become a bit yellowish. For your case , I believe the white bubble was small at the beginning but it's inside the mouth of your snail so it's impossible to find , but now it grows bigger so it hangs out of his mouth. BTW how old is he ? My advice here is even you perform the surgery , please try not to cut out anything from the snail , I did it with my snail and it died. Good luck....

I can't see the photos in your thread. My snail became inactive and I started to think he won't make it. There's some liquid that leaks out while the snail is staying and he is always sleeping in ponds of it. The snail was born in the end of April 2014.

I was thinking it looked strange for gut extrusion, but I have no better ideas. It's been many days now so the snail is probably pretty weak. Is he able to eat or drink at all?

He is still alive and he is more active than he was when I wrote my last post in this thread. Now he can stick on the walls of the tank. This thing comes from his mouth and it's leaking. The liquid that comes out from there is sth between brown, yellow and red. I can't determine the colour... It became lighter today but still leaks a lot. When the snail has gut extrusion, does it leak? It was leaking before the 'surgery'. And yes,his problem looks 'strange' for gut extrusion... I don't think he is able to eat but every day I spray him with water and hope he is able to drink some. As he is more active today, I think I'll give him some grinned(it'll be easier to eat some if he can) cucumber or apple.

As far as I know, gut extrusion doesn't leak or move. muddydragon ?

i thankfully *touch wood* have never had a snail have gut extrustion or oral prolapse (i think this may be oral prolapse with a bit of gut showing but it's all interconnected anyway) so i cant say for certain
It would move in the smae way a snail can move its mouth and it is probably trying to retract it. i would expect that the gut would "leak" it is naturally semi-permeable. also if something is swollen like that it is likely to leak.
Whatever is going on it is either the gut and or mouth hanging out and swollen. the procedure is the same shrink it and get it back in. The pop and insert back in with a spoon is the only method i've heard of (and it worked). i have another couple of ideas but theyre not great. if you dont help it get it back in its very VERY unlikely it will do it itself.

I tried and tried to push the thing back in his mouth with a sterile tea spoon but it seems it can't... The snail decides to retract and I'm not able to continue my attempts. After all,he refuses to get out of his shell.
