A friend of mine on Facebook photographed a wild Helix pomatia in his garden in Leesburg, Cumberland County, south New Jersey. If anyone on here lives in that area and wants to look, there's a good place to start. Edit: This snail is apparently an H. aspersa.

Helix aspersa (aka Cornu aspersum) not Helix pomatia. H. pomatia is bigger and has no stripes on the shell. Still a nice find, these are friendly and easy to keep. I wonder if there is a population there or if he just traveled alone via a garden center plant or something.

That's an aspersa? Oh, bugger... Well, thanks for letting me know!
