Hi there, I would like to announce a revision of my page on "The Gastropod Shell", as I have used the days past to rewrite everything on that topic on my homepage. Now the page contains in fact two pages with chapters on different subjects, such as general information on how a snail shell grows, and how it is built, to special information (so far unattended on my homepage), such as hairy shells, the shell lid (operculum), how snail shells are coiled, and much more. > The Gastropod Shell Part 1> The Gastropod Shell Part 2On both pages there is a small index of contents, so you can jump between both pages and also between chapters. If you think, somehting should be described better or I left something important out, please tell me. Besides, your comments are, of course, like always, very welcome. Kind regards Robert

Hello Very nice site. I loved the hairy snails!! ;D By the way, today I found an helix aspersa on the street. It had the shell lightly broken and I took it with me. I have it now next to me but I saw like a plastic thread around its body and the shell, I tried to get rid of it, but I saw was coming from inside the body, so watching carefully the "plastic thread" was in reality its intestine (or some other organ) . I tried to put it in its place but I don't know maybe if I see a diagram of dissection of a snail I could do something for this little one. Do you know a site with a dissection diagram??
