I'm a snail enthusiast from the US that currently has a collection of native Neohelix, Mesodon, and Glyphyalinia. I was super excited to find this forum to share pictures of my adorable snail babies and discuss some of their cool behavior. I intern with a couple of malacologists that mostly collect and identify, but I'm also interested in genetics and behavioral traits. So little has actually been documented concerning Eastern US species and I'd love to eventually rectify that. My two Neohelix (Rhea and Kronos) just laid their first clutch of eggs a few days ago, and I can't wait for the babies to hatch. More pics to follow!

Hello, welcome to the forums! We're glad to see you here! You sound like you do some very interesting work with snails. (And I am especially excited to see photos... Neohelix are beautiful, and I've never been able to get ahold of them myself. Photos are the next best thing, I suppose!)

Welcome. Good luck with the hatchlings!...and with the internship... the job market is not that great, so if snails turn into more than a hobby you will be very lucky.

Thanks guys, it will be nice to have a group to gush over snails with! I'm thinking about buying some Helix pomatia (not to eat), but I'm not sure if my apartment can handle a fourth snail tank. They're just so cute!! Neohelix major are the largest genus native to this area, and while I love them, it would be so cool to have larger snails. A difficult dream to have, living in the US.

Hey! I'm in NC, too! I'm interested in an internship- could you tell me (in a pm) where the place is? Or the website, either one's fine. Welcome to the forum, by the way!
