Hi all, after only two months of snail-keeping, I've become captivated by these laid back little guys. I bought two black "mystery snails" at Walmart for a dollar each. Best two bucks I've ever spent. Snails are much more complex, funny, and interesting than I thought.
I have a few questions for future threads, and look forward to reading about other's snails. I'd like to get a giant African land snail(s), if only they were legal here in Nevada (which they should be, since the risk is so low of them becoming invasive in a desert environment!). Also have a bunch of ramshorn pond snails.
Other interests include geocaching, chess, and video poker.

Welcome to the forum!
You are correct, Giant African Land Snails or GALS are illegal across the entire USA. It can be argued that in some states they would not survive, owners should be responsible and not release their pets, etc. but the law is how it is. Unfortunately no snails may cross state lines so most of us in the USA are restricted to keeping only the land snails that can be found within our state.

Thanks! Could a petition change the law? Impossible probably. Ferret fanciers haven't had any success lifting the ferret ban in California...
