so I was in Coventry and looking under some rocks (as you do) and I found a Limax maximus slug and a Limax cinereo-niger slug. the L.c. was about 8cm long and the L.m. about 10cm. My little sister was captivated and she wanted to keep them as pets so i threw together a little tank but I'm concerned that the L. maximus will try to eat the other slug. Somehow I doubt it as they're so similar.
and, you know L.cinereoniger has on the bottom of its foot white with a border of grey around, does that only develop in adulthood? The 8cm slug i found has a grey-brown body, white underside, and a few spots near it's mantle.
thanks
Mike

Hi there,
Limax cinereo-niger has the black-and white foot sole, but only as an adult. Limax maximus has the unicolour white foot sole.
Both may occur in the leopard version.
I wouldn't recommend trying to put both together in a tank, they indeed might try to eat each other.
