One of my baby margies has begun to develop white scars on his tail which were getting worse and he always retracts, but last night i noticed one of my panthera had the little guy on his back, the panthera had his head buried deep into the little margies shell and was rasping away at him, i shot up and threw the lid off, snatching the margie from him, the little guy is still alive, he was quite retracted and had a bit of skin hanging off I could not believe it! my panthera have always been so gentle with the little'uns and there he was eating him alive!!! I have seperated the little margie, but i don't know whats going to happen with him Its so shocking and i thought i'd warn you guys...

I'd really hate for them to be, i mean they get plenty of food which they love, they have fantastic appetites, plus i have 6 of them now, i'd hate to have to seperate them all from the rest of the snails they seem fine with all the other snails, maybe it's just the smaller snails...

if panthera are carniverous does that mean the other immaculata forms are carniverous?

When snails hatch they often eat their own egg shell and then predate on the other eggs, eating the shell, albumen and developing snails so it's not beyond the realms of possibility that small snails will eat fresh meat. It may be down to ignorance of what they're eating being alive rather than them being deliberately carnivorous.

well all the margie young'uns are out of there, there isn't any other snails as small as those in there, the panthera don't bother the bigger snails, like over 3 cm, but i will keep an eye on them and if anything else happens....they are outta there! :-)
