One of the two fulica babies I have (my one) has badly damaged his shell. His brother was sitting on him, I picked them up to put them back in the tank (after clean out), and Kathy's one fell off as I put them down, taking half his brothers shell with him Most of his mantle fell out, but he retracted back as far as he could go - so there's only 1mm or so showing now, but he's not eating, only had a touch of cuttlefish, not enough to do anything to help I doubt. I already have them in a small tank on capillary, and I'm keeping him wet. Anything else I can do? Pics: Showing how much he lost in comparison to his size I know snails can survive some pretty bad shell damage, but it's the fact his insides fell out that's worrying me the most. Anyone else had this happen? SEARCHcracked_shell

Ive not had one which had the insides fall out!! But ive hd a baby fulica who was quite damaged last year, i dropped it in the sink-ooops , it took about half a cm off the front the baby cant have been more than 2 cm!! The shell grew back within a week and looked healthy and normal. As you said snails can repair themselves even with quite bad breaks and i think babies are even more resiliant. Apart from providing food and calcium theres nothing else that can be done.

I'm sure it will be fine, mine are always braking buts off like that, but have always grown it back, as long as hes still out and about acting normal then he should be fine :-)

He's already growing it back now - thanks for the messages I didn't realise how resilient these babies can be ;D
