Hi Looking for a bit of advice about our sick helix aspersa snail. Our snails recently got an infestation of mites. I bought some hypoaspis mites to help but then noticed that one of the snails has something in his pneumostome. It is sort of yellowish in colour and definately wasn't there before. He has not been eating much, getting thinner, didn't enjoy his shower the last few times (previously loved it) and generally looking quite sad for himself. I think it may be causing him to struggle to breathe as i have heard popping noises I've not heard that noise before. Does any one know what this could be or how I can help him? imagizer.imageshack.com/img921/75/cTX7oy.jpgThanks

So sorry he’s sick have you tried gently removing it? I’ve had about 250 Helix Aspersas and never seen anything like this but my first instinct would be to try to remove it, gently of course, and if they didn’t seem in pain I’d remove it. Let me know, I’m curious and hope your little one is ok!

Thanks for the reply.
I tried cleaning it out gently with a damp cotton bud which seemed to make him look cleaner but eventually he died not too long after (was really inactive, looking thinner in his body and not eating much in the preceding months) despite all attempts to try and get him to eat and gentle baths.
Poor Snaily, i still miss him 🐌
