Hello all! Early this morning, my hatchling Parker went into cardiac arrest. He is an Achatina Fulica with a 2-4cm shell. I confirmed he had no heart beat, no response to heat or liquid, wasn’t hibernating. He was dead. 100,000% dead. I use a tens machine for chronic pain - and by some stroke of god knows what, I cut down my tens machine electrode pads and put them over where I had seen his heart beat in his shell. I then set it to deliver short bursts of shocks and used a small syringe to give him oxygen. Again, he was totally dead. 7 hours later and he’s sliming around quite happily. I know some may think this is cruel or unethical, but I really wanted to share this. He had no pulse for about ten minutes and I somehow brought him back. He wasn’t visibly ill, so I have no clue why his heart stopped. Sharing this knowledge may help some others with beloved snails who pass randomly!

Warning though, if he was without oxygen for long enough he may be missing some marbles when he’s older and need some special care. Take good care of him!

He’s well oriented, eating well and active - I think I got lucky! Bailey on the other hand came from a garden full of pesticides- she’s definitely brain damaged but sliming happily
