Hello! I recently bought a bag of dog treats for my dogs. I was wondering if my snails could eat it, I couldn't find out if the ingredients were safe. The treats are called: Natural Balance L.I.T. Limited Ingredient Small Breed Dog Treats, Grain Free, Sweet Potato & Chicken Formula, 8-Ounce. I pasted the link below. Pls LMK if it's safe for my snails! www.amazon.ca/Natural-Balance-Limited-Ingredient-Chicken/dp/B0040BDDWMThanks!

Well, potato is the first ingredient (not sweet potato, regular potato), which generally, snails are not supposed to eat potato. It could go either way. I’ve heard of people giving their snail dog biscuits, but I personally don’t think it’s a great idea. There are better food sources out there. If you are looking for a source of protein to give your snails, a high quality fish food (like Omega One brand), or mysis shrimp, bloodworms or daphnia are good. Egg yolk is also good, but it’s more messy.

Hello! I have done dog treats once with one of my rescue snails and it seems to be safe. You gotta kinda think of what they’d eat in the wild. They actually can and do like to eat potato peels so. Just don’t give your snails a large amount of the dog treat and don’t do it regularly, and you should be safe. (Meaning just do it as a treat every now and then)
