These arrrived this morning, one seems fine the other is very underweight and has some (old it seems) spire damage. The spire doesnt worry me, as the inner shell is calcified, but comparing the weight between the two, hes far too light and the body is very shrunken compared to the other. Which food stuffs have you had the most success with? I have sweet potato, romanie lettuce and roundleaf lettuce in stock for the other species, and can aquire courgette/cucumber/fruits.

Originally, I could only get them to eat lettuce (still their favourite), tiny amounts of apple, banana, papaya and porridge and occasionally cucumber skin, Dandelions and Common Plantain.
I think they are primarily leaf-eaters. I discovered that slicing their food extremely finely is successful. They don't seem to be able to rasp larger items and seem to prefer getting their mouths around the food rather than on top. By slicing the food they take a much healthier variety readily. Also, perseverence has paid off because they are more interested in other foods than they were. It must be noted that the babies I have had were no problem at all, and do actually attempt to eat larger pieces though thin slicing is still more successful. The babies also readily accept cuttlefish bone which the WC ones refuse. Luckily the adults will eat it powdered and, like most snails, I have discovered they love powdered oyster shell.

Sarah thats a yes, I contacted him when I first saw the auction (before it became petsnails fodder). He sold a pair but insisted they werent the ones up for auction. Nice chap, the first cheque I sent got lost, the second arrived fine and he posted before it cleared because of problems with the first.
Im with kevin with the do or die over the megas hes offering on ebay at the moment, so Ive put in for another 3 via ebay.
Hopefully the underweight one will pick up, Ive watched it eating sweet potato which is high in starches so fingers crossed for chunkification.

Well my cheque was never banked, I put a stop on it before sending the second.
I recieved an email to say the first cheque arrived today (which is strange seeing as it was sent by first class a week ago). Perhaps it was an internal mail problem?
