So, I have a single, wild-caught Deroceras Reticulatum and I have some local mushrooms beginning to grow from the bark in the tank. I know slugs eat mushrooms, but as I’m unsure what kind of mushrooms these are, I don’t know whether to leave them or remove them. I like the idea of a fully bioactive tank, but obviously if its going to be a hazard I want to remove them. So, should I remove them or leave them be? I would just leave them. In my opinion it only makes the tank more natural. Slugs and snails are usually pretty smart about wether they should or should not eat something.

Same in my opinion! They know very well what to eat and what to avoid!
I had some big mushrooms growing in some of my vases this autumn, and I was super surprised to see them actually, but my snails and slugs seems to enjoy..Not their favourite food but they ate a bit of them when they were alive, and then they ate again some more when mushrooms were dead and rotting...
Also those little mushrooms you have are pretty cute!

I'm curious too! My mushrooms appeared in the time of less than one night, and stayed alive for two days before starting to decay.. I have some pics of them but need to search them!

They’re now in little clusters all over the bark, they grow for about 2-4 days before dying off and another one sprouting in it’s place. They’re pretty tiny, not really growing much bigger than 1cm tall and with a cap about the size of a pin head. Deximr hasn’t been munching on them, not his thing I suppose

ah so they are spreading... In this case maybe try to make sure if the snails avoid them carefully and seem to escape from them, or if they simply don't like to eat them and they are simply uninterested. Just to be sure if it can be somehow harmful for them or not!
Also, mushroom's thriving can sometimes warn you abt the humidity levels and other conditions of your tank, that may even disturb the snails if it is always too moisture (apologize for my english but I'm working so I have no time to re-read the message and check for mistake or better ways to express but I think is understandable). I never paid too much attention to that since my snails are on the balcony, so I cannot control any humidity or temperature levels, they just live according to the season!

My boy never really went on top of the bark before, but doesn’t seem to ignore them when deliberately placed near them. Just seems disinterested. As for the humidity, I do keep it rather high as it seems to make my boy the happiest. I’ll definitely be careful, though, thank you!
