Hello! My 10 gallon helix aspersa tank is having serious mold issues, mostly because it’s very humid. I have a screened in lid that I’m half covering with plastic wrap to help humidity and keep it aired. I have decided to get some springtails because there is just way to much mold and it’s mainly on the moss I bought. So, I do need to put rocks in the bottom right and add more substrate? Any other advice? I have been changing the food out everyone other day but it still gets moldy. Thanks! and does anyone know a good website to buy springtails and isopods?

Hi! I also had some mold problems when my snails were inside the house, and I just solved by removing the lid for some hours, maybe in your case is enough to remove the extra-cover.. Springtails will not be decisive in removing the mold, nor so much helpful in my opinion, I have many and I never noticed them to be particularly attracted by mold, they will also eat it probably, but they gather in big numbers around food leftovers mostly. If you wish to get springtails, I don't think you need to buy them, they are super common and will arrive by themselves if you put the tank out on the balcony for a while, or even with the tank inside by just waiting, for what I know everybody gets them soon or late, they are very common.
Another thing I'd like to suggest, is to avoid to keep the humidity always high, since Cornu aspersum do not need it moist every day, they would prefer if you regulate the moisture depending on the outside weather (if you live in a place where also Cornu aspersum live), or otherwise depending on the season!

It’s really just since I have added new moss, and around the food, that’s am seeing lots of mold. I also am not putting the tank outside as it is to risky because of mites and insects. I was considering doing bio active so I don’t have to clean the substrate as much and because I’m adding plants into the tank. Those are good suggestions, I’m still not sure what I’m going to do yet. Thanks.
