hi! i been posting a lot but this is my first time ever owning snails and i don’t know much of their behavior. one of my snails have been burrowed all day since i woke up (abt 9am eastern) and it’s current 5pm, how long is a normal amount for them to be burrowed? when should i be worried? i know i read to not mess with them when burrowed so i haven’t tried looking for thin/her (i don’t know gender yet) but how do i know he/she have enough air and moisture under the dirt? my other snail that i got from the same carrier is super active and loves crawling around. any help or information will be greatly appreciated

Its nothing to worry about, burrowing is completely natural behaviour! Snails are also nocturnal so I assure you they will be up and active after dusk. The other one is probably just exploring its new home.

Hi! thank you so much for the help but is there a certain time when i should worry? i haven’t seen it out at night (i’m a night owl) but it could also be when i’m going to sleep. also do you know if there a specific gender that burrows or do both of them do it?

If they don't come out after a week or so, that might be a cause for concern. But again, they might start estivating if youre in a pretty warm climate right now and they can potentially be in that state for weeks without an issue.
Snails (except a few exception species) are actually both sexes as they have both female and male reproductive organs! So no, it won't be a certain gender.

I second everything Suspiciousbagel said! I would just like to add that if your snail is burrowing for a few days, it’s nothing to worry about. Depending on the species, snails can burrow for a long time. I have species that burrow for a whole week and only come out at night, or for food. It is quite interesting actually.
