Hi can anyone help? My fulica Micky seems to be rasping his shell. It looks like it's be scraped at the lip. I cant see any mites, he eats his calcium and i havent seen any of the others rasping him. I changed to limestone flour to see if there is any improvement. can anyone offer ideas? Many thanx Mickysnail

Minimal rasping may not be a sign of illness, snails sometimes do this, in what can only be described as shell-smoothing.
If you can see damage or he's obsessed with rasping his own shell there may be a problem, but as he eats calcium it doesn't sound like there's a reason.

I remember somebody posting on the forum once saying that their snail didn't like coir and was trying to get it off I think this is what is meant about sediment, they had to change back to what they were originally using.

I'm gonna be trying mine on coir shortly once it's finished soaking up water and expanding,I'll let you know how I get on if you like as all mine have only ever been on Irish moss peat with me so we'll see if they like it or not.

The stuck sediment is when there is earth or stuck sweepings in snail's shell (I can see as my snails rasping their shell).
