I'm not sure if it's the right place to share it, but still. Bram passed away late on the 20th September, and I've had a hard time grieving and accepting it.
He was not in a great condition when I bought him, and I always suspected he would be a bit frail, but he was nursed back to health, cleared of parasites and regained his strength. He really came into his own, and had such a sweet personality.
His health backslid from nowhere and despite my best attempts to nurse him, he didn't make it. I'm not an emotional sort, and I don't even grieve dead relatives like this, but it's hard to think about him without tearing up.
Anyway, I wrote this for him, as a memorial, and to help me deal with it, I guess.
TO BRAM
I wish I could harness the Phoenix,
And channel its flames through me,
So that these flowing rivers of grief,
Could hold purpose instead of meaning;
So these tears could heal your ailing body,
And bring you back to life.
I wish I could harness the Amaranth,
And grind each petal into an elixir,
Mixing these tears with a magic,
So that this heartbreak could yield a cure;
So each drop could call back your soul,
And we would never part.
