So I got a baby rabbit snail around a month and a half ago, and until 2 days ago he was thriving. The other day I checked on him, and he had what looked like new shell growth, but it was clear. His body was swollen and he couldn’t move around. He could move his head though. The next morning the “shell growth” had like gone back into his shell, but I could no longer see his face. His body was still swollen and stiff, but he was still alive. Last night and today he is almost completely in his shell (a little bit of his foot is peeking out and I can see his operculum). When I gently poke at the foot it will squish, but it doesn’t seem like a reactive response. I’ve done the sniff test, and he’s alive, but just in a very bad way. All his tank parameters are good, and I’ve given him cuttle bone and a variety of foods, but I’m just so worried. Can anyone help?

Hi there! I am sorry to hear this about your little rabbit snail! I am not 100% sure at what could be the issue here, but it could be a bad reaction to something he came in contact with. If you could try getting some photos of him, that would be very helpful! For now, I suggest continuing what you are doing, and leave him to rest somewhere near his food so that he can find it.

I am so very sorry for your loss! It did sound like to em that your snails was near death, but it is very hard to pinpoint exactly what was wrong with your snails. I am so sorry once again, I bet they were an amazing snail.
