Hi everyone!
It's been a while. I think I was was last active on this forum in 2019? Holy moly. Brief intro for y'all who don't know me, I'm a naturalist and field technician up in Quebec, Canada. I've been keeping land snails for about ten years now. My favourite species are Flamed tigersnails (Anguispira alternata) and Pacific sidebands (Monadenia fidelis).
I hope you are all staying safe and snaily these days. I am rekindling my interest in snails and am currently setting up a small five gallon aquarium in which to house some Marbled limpet nerite snails (Septaria porcellana) and potentially one or two Spixi snails (Asolene spixi). If anyone keeps these species, I'd be very interested in chatting about them with you!
I still have my Flamed tigersnail, Woods (who is about 7 years old now??), and a few Grove snails (Cepaea nemoralis) which are currently aestivating back at my parent's house.
I have big plans for this summer! I will be moving Woods into a larger enclosure, and will be replanting all my tanks with new material. Gotta spruce things up a bit! I am also planning to collect a few specimens of various species I've kept before including White-lipped snails (Cepaea hortensis), Quick glass snails (Zonitoides arboreus), Eastern whitelips (Neohelix albolabris), and Common ambersnails (Succinea putris). My ultimate goal for the summer will be to find at least one Copse snail (Arianta arbustorum)! I think they are super cool and even though they are an introduces species here in Quebec and Ontario, I love 'em. I would also love to find some other weird, one-off occurrence species like Milk snails, Heath snails, etc... So we'll see what I can find!
Can't wait to catch up with everyone and meet all the new members!
