Upgraded my little tiny glass snails enclosure to an 8" x 8" x 8" Repti Zoo terrarium. Changed it out, after discovering Zoo Med's Creature Soil has sand in it, which could be harmful to the little glass snails. Switched to Zoo Med's loose Coco Fiber instead. Since the previous enclosure was plastic, wanted to upgrade to glass and have room to place a small feeding dish, rather than laying food on the soil. Even with fresh food every day, the little enclosure was getting smelly. The larger one will be easier to clean as well.
So, enough background! The question is, how long should I wait to throw out the old soil? I didn't want to add it to the new terrarium because of the sand. These little guys can stay hidden for days at a time and also, if I am going to cull eggs, I want to see what I'm doing and not randomly dump the soil.
Approximately how long should I wait for possible clutches to hatch and for sleepy-heads to resurface?
Thank you!!
