hello there, not been on here for ages! only just got my broadband bk. anyways, one of my blondies died the other day but i dont know why. and now my other blondie looks real ill.
it looks like she has been attackd by one of the other snails. some small marks that looked like bite marks (i know snails cnt bite but you know what i mean) have turned in big sores. either shes been attacked by the other snails or she has some kind of disease. ive put her in a seperate tank now and already shes happily munchin her carrot.
does anyone know what this could be? i will try and get a photo up asap.
thanks in advance x

What other snails are they in with? theyve been in with fulica for years! when i found my first blondie dead.. a young adult fulica was half in the shell. i dont know wether it was just investigating the dead blondie or if it had killed it!

That sounds and looks like the sort of thing that Immacs have been known to do. Silly question but are you sure they are Fulicas?
PS Nice to have you back

Whilst marks could be sign of an accident or even being rasped by another snail, I suspect the marks are malnutrition marks. I've noticed that when a snail stops eating for some reason, they get paler, sometimes depressed patches on their skin. It certainly seems plausible with you mentioning them being ill.
If they haven't been eating properly for a week or two that may explain it. The only thing you can do it try to get them eating again and I'm at a loss as to what will make that happen. I tried more heat and humidity, regular baths to try and get activity up. It worked for some, not for others.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

If you are unsure how much she is eating it may be worth separating her so you can keep an eye on it.
If you don't wish to do that, waker her up regularly at feeding time and observe her to ensure she is eating.

shes much better now. i had to give away all my fulicas, except one...and its just her and that one in the tank. back up to full health! so i think it was the other snailys being nasty to her.
thanks for all the advice! x

I noticed similar marks on 2 of my poorly retic´s (they had a bad time and haven´t gotten food for weeks from the earlier owner) and 2 of the purpurea I have, have the same markings (as they are wildcaught, we don´t know, what caused this).
First I thought, that comes from having tried to eat each other (but as those marks started to appear near the mantle and then going further their body, this was more unlikely, that another snail has rasped on them), but this thread helped me now to see this a little bit clearer and it surely could be that this is from malnutrition.
Could it be some kind of skin-disease too? As this areas are going to get bigger for some time and then it stopps as suddelnly as it has come. My snails are homing with other snails and non of them has shown anything similar like that.
